European Jockey's Cup 2015

The European Jockeys Cup 2015 will take place in Prague which is the capital and the largest city in the Czech Republic and also the 15th biggest city in the European Union. Prague is a highly economically developed and rich region of the Czech Republic with an exceptionally high standard of living. Prague is generally considered one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and the whole world and currently there are approximately 1,250,000 inhabitants. Its horseracing history started with the first race which was held there on 28th September 1906 and therefore the 110th anniversary of horseracing in the territory of the capital city of Prague is approaching. What can the visitors of the ground look forward to on 26th September? It will be quite a specific and unique sports event governed by strictly determined rules. The ample sports and social programme in Prague’s Chuchle will be dominated by a total of five horse races. The prize money of the main race is 60 000 EUR and each of the remaining four horse races will each have the same prize money of 20 000 EUR. Besides the main race, the rest of the horseracing programme will also be very well organised for Czech standards and the whole racing day will be an event with the highest prize money available for an event of this kind in central Europe.

The main race of the day will be 1,400 metres and it is intended for three-year-old and older horses. Accompanying horse races of the day will have different parameters. Only the prize money of each of them will be the same. The first from the four accompanying horse races will also be 1,400 metres long but it is intended only for three-year old and older mares. The second race is intended for all three-year-old and older horses and it will be 1,000 metres long. Last two horse races will be again for three-year-old and older horses and they will be 1,800 and 2,600 metres long.

Top Czech jockeys Václav Janáček and Filip Minařík have already promised to participate in the event. Václav Janáček is an important Czech jockey, two times winner of the Czech Derby and four times flat race champion and a record holder who managed to win an unbelievable 82 times in the single year of 2009. Filip Minařík is the most successful Czech jockey in history who has won the most famous German horse race of the Baden Baden Grand Prix and he is the only Czech jockey who has won more than 1,000 horse races during his career. The make-up of the final starting line-up is currently being finalized.
